ABOUT

We are based in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. We fundraise with support from our community, to purchase menstrual hygiene products and other essential items and create menstrual hygiene kits. We provide these hygiene kits to any person that menstruates in our community who may be struggling to access necessary sanitary items during their menstrual cycle. We donate these kits to local shelters, middle schools. and high schools.

WAYS WE HELP

Inspired by the Period Purse (Toronto), in 2018 we made our first menstrual hygiene kits. Between us friends, we put together enough money for 10 menstrual hygiene kits. These kits contained pads and tampons, enough to last one average cycle. As well as socks, underwear, wipes, chapstick and chocolate. We donated these kits to the Lookout Society on Riverside Road in Abbotsford.

Sharing Menstrual Products

With this initiative, our goal is to provide as many people who menstruate the menstrual hygiene products they lack access to. In 2020, we created 725 menstrual hygiene kits. We have donated over 6080 sanitary napkins and 6450 tampons within these kits. Each menstrual hygiene kit has enough for one average menstrual cycle.

Helping Women feel Clean

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we aim to provide other hygiene products that can be used. In the 725 menstrual hygiene kits we created, we added 600 full-size deodorants, 600 toothbrushes, 600 tubes of toothpaste, 144 flosses, 725 chapsticks, and 600 bars of soap.

Give What We Take for Granted

At Sahaara Foundation, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts. In our 725 kits, we have provided 725 pairs of socks and 725 protein bars. In previous kits, we have provided undergarments such as underwear as well. We decided to add socks as they are something we take for granted, and a protein bar as it can provide much-needed nutrition.
